Welcome to the GUC!
Welcome to the Glasgow University Road and Mountain Biking Club. Whatever your interest in bikes we have something for you; from group trips to bike maintenance courses. As a growing club with a weekly social meeting - 9pm every Thursday in Curlers - this is a chance to meet like-minded people, even if all you use your bike for is to go to the supermarket or pub (not that we encourage drunken cycling). We run rides at weekends, and will be organising trips to major cycling venues throughout the year for every discipline. In addition, there will be opportunities to enter competitions. So why not join us?

Happy New Year from The GUC Committee!
Lots of important news for your diarys:
21st January – New year BIG social night out in the HIVE. Meet up in the beer bar at 9pm for some pints and then onto the HIVE for some mayhem. Wearing your GUC cycling jersey or club hoodie is compulsory.
4th February – Maintenance class for members and non members. Learn from our 4 mechanics about how to adjust your gears, brakes, wheels and many other bike essential skills. £3 for GUC members / £5 Non members. You will receive a handy information guide as well as other free goodies. (6PM, Venue TBC).
GUSA Ball
Takes place on 27/2/10. £40 per head. Meal at the Mariot Hotel and we have a 10 seat table
available. First come first serve. Contact Dougal before Wednesday 27th Jan. This should be an awesome event so try and get your name to Dougal asap if you want to come.
BUCS
If you would like to enter BUCS please do so through Dougal. Do not enter on your own as we will enter you as part of our team.
Mountain Film Festival
We have been invited to this Mountain Film Festival. Check out the website and contact Dougal to get tickets together. Its on Friday the 29th January at the Glasgow Library Theatre. Tickets £10
(no booking fees or anything like that). And the bar will be open! This year
the festival includes mountain biking, skiing/boarding, speed flying and
climbing films to name a few!! Only one place showing in Scotland. Would be

FRESHERS WEEK 09
11th - 20th September
We will have a stand in the Uni Gym on Tuesday and Wednesday next week. There will also be a tour of Glasgow cycle (6 miles), taking in the west end, city centre, river Clyde and Kelvingrove park and on Saturday 19th we have an epic trip planned for both road and mountain bikes.

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!
We have had some great news regarding GUSA and GUC. We are now officially affiliated to GUSA which is a great step forward and means we will get even more help for more trips away and other exciting things.
Thanks to Alasdair’s persistence with Cycle Jersey, our fancy new jerseys have arrived and look fantastic so if you ordered one please get your money to Alasdair ASAP.
Well done to those who competed in the heat at 10 Under the Ben. Results are posted on the Forum.
Hope you have all had a fantastic year at GUC and thank you all for your contributions to the club. Sadly that’s it as far as Tuesday night meets are concerned until next semester, but please don’t hesitate to meet up for drinks and go for rides as a club throughout the summer. Keep checking the website and forum for updates and people wanting to go for rides.
If we don’t see you until next year have a great summer and we will see you in September.

Just to remind everyone that our first pub session of the 3rd term will be Tuesday 21st April, 8.30pm onwards at the Primary.
I'm sure much planning will occur, including club jerseys, ten under the ben and trips for this term.
